Looking for easy portable entertainment? Great, because Amazon has great deals on Fire HD tablets right now. You can get a Fire 8 HD for just $60 (starting at $100) or the Fire Tablet HD 8 Plus for $70 (starting at $140). These deals don’t last long, so it’s wise to grab a tablet (or two) now while you still can. Not sure which option to choose? Below we decipher the differences for you. Let’s go!

Stream movies, watch videos or play games with an upgraded processor and enjoy hours of downloaded content thanks to the Fire HD 8’s 12-hour battery life. A USB-C port makes charging easier when you need a backup. If you’re not a fan of ads, you can spend a little more to find one with no ads on the lock screen.

The Fire HD 8 tablet is an excellent option for those who want more than just reading capabilities (though it also makes an excellent Kindle replacement). Watch all your favorite social media platforms, stream video and much more.

“This Fire 8 is a very nice upgrade,” one Fire tablet fan wrote. Although only 1 inch taller [than the Fire 7], it makes the view just right. The screen resolution is sharper, the memory is larger, the processor speed is higher, the RAM is higher, and the battery is better and lasts longer. Although I was happy with my old one, this new one makes me much happier!”

With this upgrade to the Fire 8 you get more RAM, a more powerful charger and even wireless charging options. That means it is faster And more portable (hence the “Plus”). It offers up to 64 GB of onboard storage, as well as an additional 1 TB via a microSD card. Best of all? It includes wearable Alexa features, meaning you can control your smart home or add items to your shopping list with a quick command.

The Fire HD 8 Plus tablet, like the standard version, can be purchased with or without the lock screen ads. Many people prefer to spend a little extra to get it ad-free, but that version is currently not for sale. That said, the ads aren’t that intrusive and may even show you a product you’re interested in.

Reviewers say the Plus is the perfect alternative to significantly more expensive iPads: “Our family has had so many iPads, iPad Airs, iPad minis…in love. Unfortunately, honeymoons don’t last forever, and neither do the tablets,” confessed a Fire convert “This little Fire tablet is at least the quality equivalent of the $600 iPad Mini.”

Need to go even bigger? You can buy a Fire HD 10 tablet for $100 – more than 30% off the normal price.

This tablet comes with 32GB of storage, a full 1080 pixel screen and 12 hours of battery life to keep you going all day (or all night). It’s the same price as the Fire HD 8 Plus, so if you want a bigger size, what have you got to lose?

“My Fire HD 10 is just perfect for me. I can do so much with it to keep me entertained while waiting in the doctor’s office,” said one of over 80,000 five-star reviewers. “I’ve transferred all my Kindle content to it and the super-durable high-powered battery allows me to read my books beyond the 2-hour limit I have on my old Kindle. I’ve surfed the web, zoomed in on my grandkids, and taken several clear sharp photos As it was a recent gift, I haven’t used all the features yet, but I will soon.”

The reviews quoted above reflect the most recent versions at the time of publication.
