Ever dreamed of a robot to make your life easier, like Rosie van The Jetsons? Unfortunately, we’re not quite there yet – although I suppose you could attach a mannequin to a Roomba – but Echo Shows are fun substitutes! These handy smart assistants can simplify your day by telling you the weather, controlling your smart tech, and even managing your shopping list. And right now, Amazon has slashed prices in a serious sale worthy of your attention: up to 53% off, with prices starting at $45.
First up is the Echo Show 5, a small device with a lot of power. Although small, you can stream music and video from your favorite services, watch morning news and even make video calls with the 2 megapixel camera. Concerned about privacy? Don’t be – a built-in shutter can be flipped to block the camera, and Amazon offers plenty of tools to minimize the risk of the Echo Show hearing something it’s not supposed to.
“My son has integrated his room with Alexa. She wakes him up with the weather report, helps him keep an eye on his 3D printer as it performs long and complicated tasks, plays soothing music while he does homework, and reminds him when to must go to exercise on days when it’s not a set schedule. She also turns his lights on and off on demand,” one happy parent said.
Next you have the Echo Show 8 – altogether the bigger, better version of the Echo Show 5. Well, maybe not better, but pretty damn good. Both devices have different uses, even though they have mostly the same functions. The Echo Show 8 has a 13 megapixel camera and ensures that you stay centered and sharp during video calls, as long as you stay within the camera’s field of view. It’s also perfectly sized to be a digital photo frame when not in use!
A frequent cook said, “We put the Echo Show 8 in the kitchen because it seems like I spend a lot of my day in that room. I like the bigger screen and the sound quality is top notch. Also, the Echo Show 8 shows family automatically me standing at the front door when our Ring doorbell is activated by a person.”
The biggest, baddest (as in most radical) version of the mighty smart assistant is the Echo Show 15. This 15-inch screen is practically a TV in its own right, and it’s certainly a valid option for watching your favorite shows. It even comes with a Fire TV remote for easy navigation through Prime Video, Hulu, and many others. Add to that the fact that it has widgets – something no other Echo Show has – and you’ve got an organizational powerhouse that can become the center of the home.
The widgets can display your to-do list, shopping list, weather, calendar and much more. There’s even facial recognition built in, so each family member sees their own custom screen. Of course, it can also do everything the other units can do; it just does more.
The Echo Show 15 is my personal favorite smart display and I have one in my kitchen and one in my office. I don’t know how I would get through the day without them as they help me keep a very busy life organized and on track.
“This is by far one of my favorite electronics to date! It allows me to integrate calendars, create various mailing and shopping lists, leave sticky notes for the family and when not in use I turn it into a digital photo frame!! It recognizes our votes,” said one five-star reviewer. “I can easily pull out recipes while cooking – it hangs in our kitchen. My kids also love listening to music here with Amazon music. Absolutely amazing!”
Of course, if you have Amazon Prime, you get free shipping. not yet a member? No problem. You can sign up for your 30-day free trial here. (And by the way, those without Prime still get free shipping on orders of $25 or more.)
